This is an old Russian Matryoshka wooden jar made in the Semionovsk region of the USSR. It stands 7.5” tall. It comes apart into 2 pieces in a very unusual way. The base is a small cup that pulls out from the large doll. The painting on this doll is also quite unique but faded with age. Both the doll and the base cup are decorated with traditional Semenov swirls, but the painting is somewhat crudely done. The hands are very unique since they are painted with fingernails.
