Ukraine:
This Slavic country is located southwest of Russia, north of Moldavia, south of Belarus, and west of Poland. Dolls from this region are primarily painted in earth tones. Two sets have unusual shapes, the bullet maiden (shaped like a bullet) and the conical maiden (shaped like an egg). These dolls have both geometric designs and great detail.
Old Ukrainian sets like these have been very difficult to find. The paint on this type of doll tends to chip easily. This particular set is the Tamara style. It contains 8 dolls, the largest of which is 7 inches tall. The dolls wear traditional Ukrainian costumes.
