AE01. Old Style Zagorsk Maidens - 5n, 7"

Zagorsk (Sergiev Posad):

The Russian town of Sergiev Posad (formerly Zagorsk) is located a few miles northeast of Moscow and is known for its artists. There is also a large toy museum and matryoshka factory.

Traditional dolls have a scarf tied under the chin, one arm bent, and one straight. Aprons sometimes with simple dot flowers, sometimes plain. New dolls are often lavishly decorated.

Here is a very nice example of an old Russian nesting dolls - a total of five starting at approx 1 1/2" high to the tallest approx. 7" tall - very colorful, excellent condition - very unique item to have or add to your collection. These came from an estate sale along with some other old carved articles (boxes and such) with Russian writing on them.
