Traditional maidens dressed in colorful saris make up this 8” set of 6 nesting dolls from India. With large black eyes and black hair, they are dressed in saris and colorful patterned veils in deeps shades of gold, orange, red, brown, green and turquoise. Lathe made by hand from select hardwoods, they have been carefully hand painted and lacquered.
While I cannot put an exact date on this set, these dolls are definitely old. In fair condition, several are warped and ill fitting, and most show signs of small spots of chipped and peeling paint...typical problems with these older sets of dolls manufactured in India.
