photo184.jpg

Khokhloma is a large village in former Semenovsky district. Khokhloma painting is based on combination of scarlet cinnabar and flittering gold against the black lacquer background. Masters used tin powder and lacquer to obtain such gold color. Now they use aluminum powder.

Each egg has a beautiful woman in traditional Russian clothing. The largest egg is 4 inches tall, the medium egg is 2¾ inches, and the smallest is just over 1¾ inches tall. The eggs are in perfect condition, no cracking, crazing or scratches.
