This is a very unusual Mushroom Man with mushroom shaped red cap with white polka dots. The man has a startled look on his face with a hole for his mouth and a bushy beard.
This seems to be some sort of bobbin for thread or yarn. There is a nail on top that lets the mushroom top raise up and spin. The base of the mushroom opens to reveal a compartment inside with a turning disk (for thread?), a hole in the back, and a hole in the top that leads to the open mouth.
