AG25. Nolinsk Russian Inlaid Straw Houses 6.5” 5n

photo6.jpg

These dolls are from the city of Nolinsk in Russia in the region of Viatka (formerly known as Kirov) about 200 miles northeast of Moscow. Besides being hard carves and hand painted these dolls have tiny pieces of straw glued to them. The artist hand cuts tiny pieces of Rye straw and uses them to create stunning designs on the dolls. The amount of time and patience involved to do this is nothing short of incredible. This doll is also signed by the artist on the bottom.
