This is an 8 3/4" tall wooden Warrior Bottle Holder from the Kalinin region of the USSR. The wood burning is intricate and beautiful. He is unusual in that he opens at the head - the helmet lifts off. He is also unusually colored - the blue-grey is quite unique. Furthermore, this doll is completely matte - no shine to the paint and no lacquer. The hand, spear, and shield are all separate pieces of wood that have been fitted onto the doll. It is unmarked and appears fairly new - it is in perfect condition.
