Very rare antique nesting doll tea set is from the 50's and from Shackman. She is a much rarer version of the wood apple tea set from Japan which is sought after by many collectors. She no longer has the Shackman Japan label but on the base the words JAPAN can still be seen. She opens up at the bottom and when turned upside down, the lid becomes a table. Inside her are 2 cups, 2 saucers and 2 pitchers without lids. Similar sets are featured in the book A Collector's Guide to Nesting Dolls by Michele Lyons Lefkovitz on p.110. The doll measures 4 1/2" tall. Because this set is old, the doll and the tea sets have paint loss and crazing as you can see from the picture. Her arms do not move and might have been reglued.
