There is a fascinating story behind them this 6 1/2" tall set of 7 maidens from the Semenov region of the USSR. They were brought to the U.S. in the early 90's for a Russian art exhibit. They were found years later (with many other dolls) in a warehouse, still in their original plastic wrap. Note the green babushka on the first doll, and the various color combinations on the inner dolls!! They are beautifully painted and decorated - the floral and greenery on the dresses are outstanding! There is a paper "Made in Russia" label on the bottom of the large doll. This set of dolls is in excellent condition - no cracks or chips and nice shiny lacquer.
